Canada Fights Seal Ban

Published: Wednesday, 10/03/2007 12:00 am EDT

Reuters reported last week that Canada has launched a trade dispute with the European Union over a Dutch and Belgian ban on seal products, in a possible attempt to prevent a possible EU-wide ban. DFAIT has requested consultations at the WTO with the EU, which is Canada's second largest market for seal products.
