Embassies for Sale

Published: Wednesday, 10/03/2007 12:00 am EDT

Canadian news agencies have reported that various embassies and residences owned by the Canadian government abroad have been put up for sale, including Grosvenor Square in London and the envoy to Ireland's residence in Dublin. Former Foreign Affairs minister Lloyd Axworthy told the Globe and Mail that the sale indicated the government's "small-minded approach to Canada's international role." Bids for the $24.2 million property in Dublin are due by Nov. 1.
