Liberal MP to Afghanistan

Published: Wednesday, 10/03/2007 12:00 am EDT

Official Opposition defence critic Denis Coderre has accused the Harper government of refusing to arrange a trip for him to Afghanistan, and says he's been forced to make his own travel arrangements. "It's been a lot of months and a lot of weeks that we sent messages...Every time they had a reason," said Mr. Coderre of the governmental delays, CanWest News reported. Mr. Coderre did not reveal the exact date of his departure for the Kandahar province, citing security reasons, but said the trip would help the Liberals learn more about the mission before Parliament debates extending Canada's commitment beyond February 2009.
