Voting Drama in Ukraine

Published: Wednesday, 10/03/2007 12:00 am EDT

While there, Mr. Kennedy had an encounter with police on Sept. 28 who were attempting to interfere in the voting process in the city of Mariupol. Major flaws in the voting process were observed, including distribution of extra ballots, said Mr. Kennedy, who said police bearing weapons came into the area, "which is not supposed to happen." He said police took members' passports and the group was temporarily stripped of its observer status.
