Minister of Labour Jean Pierre Blackburn announced yesterday that new legislation will be introduced to help ease the re-integration of Canadian Forces reservists after tours of duty. "The government of Canada is ensuring that the men and women who serve our country, as part of the Canadian Reserve Force, are well supported when they go back to a regular working life," Mr. Blackburn said in a statement. The legislation, to be introduced when Parliament resumes, will allow reservists in certain sectors to take leave without pay. The legislation will let student reservists retain active student status, and will put an interest freeze on their loans.
