Bernier Concerned with Africa

Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier expressed concern over the deteriorating situations in Somalia and Zimbabwe in separate statements last week. The minister said Canada is worried about the security and humanitarian situation in Somalia, calling for an end to violence, deprivation and displacement. He also said the Zimbabwean government and opposition Movement for Democratic Change must work towards free and fair elections, scheduled for March 29.
