Fight for Afghan Journalist

The Canadian Newspaper Association called on the international community, including Canada, to push Afghan authorities to exonerate Afghan journalist Pervez Kambaksh, who was convicted and sentenced to death two weeks ago for downloading and distributing an article considered insulting to Islam. "All countries engaged in building democracy in Afghanistan have a duty to speak out," CNA president and CEO Anne Kothawala said. The CNA also wrote to Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier.
