Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier met with his Mexican counterpart Patricia Espinosa in Washington, D.C., on Monday to discuss the case of detained Canadian Brenda Martin, who has been in a Guadalajara prison for two years without trial. "We care and I care and we have done and we will continue to do everything that we can do, everything possible to help her, and to have a quick positive answer concerning Ms. Martin's case," Mr. Bernier said on the edges of an Organization of American States meeting. "What we are asking to the Mexican authorities is to speed up the process." Ms. Martin has insisted she is innocent of any criminal wrongdoing.
