Harper Sends Belated Condolences

Prime Minister Stephen Harper wrote his Chinese counterpart over the weekend expressing Canada's condolences a week after an earthquake that left more than 71,000 people missing, hurt or dead, Agence France-Presse reported. Liberal Foreign Affairs critic Bob Rae on Friday called on the prime minister to call Mr. Hu, and there was no explanation as to why it took Mr. Harper as long to respond as it did.
