The criminal trial for the first person in Canada charged under the country's Anti-terrorism Act began in Ottawa on Monday, the Ottawa Citizen reported. Mohammad Momin Khawaja, a 29-year-old software developer from Orléans, is accused of planning to detonate a large fertilizer-based bomb in London. He has been in jail since his arrest in April 2004. Five of Mr. Khawaja's alleged accomplices were convicted of similar charges last year in London and are now serving lengthy prison terms.
