Afghan Prison Fix-up

The blown-out gates and walls of Afghanistan's Sarposa prison, attacked two weeks ago, will undergo emergency repairs with a $4-million commitment from the Canadian government, the National Post reported. The attack allowed more than 1,000 prisoners to escape and prompted a massive response a few days later from Afghan national security forces, supported by Canadian and ISAF soldiers. The counter-attack resulted in the deaths of more than 100 insurgents and two Afghan soldiers.
