Beirut Visa Office Boosted

Published: Wednesday, 07/02/2008 12:00 am EDT

Canada's immigration visa office in Beirut, Lebanon, will now offer interviews on-site for immigrants applying for permanent resident applications, Immigration Minister Diane Finley announced last week. Until now, permanent resident applicants have had to travel to Damascus, Syria, for an interview since immigration applications from Lebanon are processed by the visa office in Damascus. Exceptions were made only for family class applicants who had the choice of being interviewed in either Beirut or Damascus.
