More Competition Needed

Canada needs to be more open to competition to help consumers and loosen restrictions on foreign investment, a federal government panel recommended last week, the Toronto Star reported. Among the changes Canada should implement are an "Open Skies" airline policy to boost competition among airlines and benefit consumers, and the lowering of barriers to foreign investment in telecommunications, uranium mining and remove bans on bank mergers. The competition panel made a total of 65 recommendations touching on almost every aspect of the economy.
