Afghanistan on U.S. Radar

The war in Afghanistan, in which Canadian troops are taking the most casualties per capita, is becoming a more prominent issue in the U.S. presidential election, The Toronto Star reported. As the situation deteriorates, the urgency of which became plainly evident on Monday when a suicide bombing killed 41 people in Kabul, the presumptive presidential nominees, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain, are both expected to push for a stronger NATO presence on the ground.
