Chinese to Remove Great Wall

Chinese officials have agreed to work with conservation officials to remove a retaining wall of cinderblocks built along the shore of the Rideau River behind the country's Ottawa mission after the shoreline started eroding, the Ottawa Citizen reported last week. The agreement came following a meeting with federal, provincial and local conservation officials. The shoreline will be "naturalized" instead by using thick, woody vegetation, said Diane Downey, community relations manager for the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority.
