Missionaries Beaten in Kenya

A 70-year-old Canadian man and his 66-year-old American wife were attacked and left in serious condition after a gang of thugs armed with machetes and clubs overpowered security guards and raided their Kenyan home, Canwest News reported last week. John and Eloise Bergen had moved to the town of Kitale, on the border with Uganda, in March to do missionary work, namely building homes and educating refugees. The attackers' motives were unclear.
