Obhrai at ASEAN

For the second year in a row, Canada has replaced its foreign affairs minister at the annual ASEAN Regional Forum meeting, which deals with security issues, with a lower-ranking official. Deepak Obhrai , parliamentary secretary to the foreign affairs and CIDA ministers, is in Singapore this week for the meeting, which is one of the two transpacific forums in which Canada is a member. Generally foreign affairs ministers attend, but Canada was represented last year by Foreign Affairs deputy minister Len Edwards. Mr. Obhrai will also visit the Philippines and Ethiopia during his trip.
