Bush Briefed on 'Eh?'

On a trip to Canada in 2004, members of U.S. President George W. Bush's delegation were provided with a protocol guide on the local language and customs, Canwest News Service reported. The guide included an explanation that Canadians' use of "eh?" at the end of a sentence roughly translates to "You know?" or "Isn't it?" The Vancouver Sun had made a freedom-of-information request for the guide several years ago, and it was recently released. A spokesman for the U.S. Chief of Protocol's Office said the guide was prepared for low-level staffers, not for Mr. Bush.
