'Friendly Fire' Death

An investigation has been launched after reports a Canadian soldier may have been shot dead by private security contractors in Afghanistan, the Globe and Mail reported this week. Master Corporal Josh Roberts was killed while manning the turret of his light armoured vehicle in Zhari district on Saturday. His unit was fighting Taliban in a farming area when a civilian convoy escorted by the private security company passed along the road. MCpl. Roberts was the 89th Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan.
