Naval Escort to Somalia

A World Food Program mission to deliver humanitarian supplies to Somalia was escorted by a Canadian frigate for fear of pirate attack, Defence Minister Peter MacKay said last week, the Chronicle Herald reported. The HMCS Ville de Quebec is expected to remain near the Horn of Africa until the end of September. It left Halifax in July for a nearly six-month NATO mission in the Mediterranean and Black seas.
