More Troops Needed: Thompson

There are not enough international and Afghan troops and policemen to control the whole of Kandahar province, Canada's top soldier in Afghanistan told a crowd of Afghan civilians last week, the Canadian Press reported.

There are not enough international and Afghan troops and policemen to control the whole of Kandahar province, Canada's top soldier in Afghanistan told a crowd of Afghan civilians last week, the Canadian Press reported. However, Brig.-Gen. Denis Thompson said a fourth battalion of Afghan National Army soldiers is expected to be ready next spring, while the number of improvised explosive devices being found is on the increase.
