Belize Talks Trade

Published: Wednesday, 10/22/2008 12:00 am EDT

Discussions about a Canada-CARICOM trade agreement were held with the private sector in Belize last Wednesday, Belize radio station LoveFM News reported. Deputy director of foreign trade for Belize Orla Kantun Coleman said the "interface with the private sector" was to discuss how negotiations will be structured. "We have to take steps to woo the Canadians to come here. In terms of the tourists coming from Canada, it is the same thing, you market Belize as a tourist destination," Mrs. Kantun Coleman said, adding, "This has to be done in Canada; you cannot do it from here in Belize. Proactive steps need to be taken."
