As one of his last acts as foreign affairs minister, David Emerson named Wendell Sanford as Canada's new high commissioner to Brunei Darussalam last week.

As one of his last acts as foreign affairs minister, David Emerson named Wendell Sanford as Canada's new high commissioner to Brunei Darussalam last week. Mr. Sanford has held various positions during his time, including at the Canadian missions in Bangkok and Boston, as deputy co-ordinator in the office of the ambassador for fisheries conservation, deputy director in the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and most recently as director of oceans and environmental law. He succeeds Léopold Battel.
