Advisers to U.S. president-elect Barack Obama are making plans to ship inmates held at the Guantanamo Bay prison to the United States where they would face criminal trials, the Associated Press reported. During the election campaign, Mr. Obama promised to close the prison down. One of the more well-known detainees is Canadian-born Omar Khadr, whom the Canadian government has refused to repatriate, leaving his fate in the hands of the Bush administration's controversial military tribunal system.
