Natynczyk's Bleak View

Canada's Chief of Defence Staff Gen.

Canada's Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Walter Natynczyk has a none-too-rosy view of Afghanistan's security situation, the Toronto Star reported. Speaking at a Canadian Club of Ottawa luncheon last week, Mr. Natynczyk said: "Quite simply, there aren't enough troops to secure the entire country." The general added that "security has not improved...as the insurgents operated from sanctuaries along the Pakistan border and attacks this summer became more sophisticated." Mr. Natynczyk said the promise of 20,000 more American troops for Afghanistan is vital in the face of foreign fighters with "sophisticated" equipment.
