Scotland's justice minister, Kenny MacAskill, is in trouble in his home country for skipping a major national crime conference to eat haggis and celebrate Scottish poet Robbie Burns's birthday in Toronto, Canwest News Service reported.

Scotland's justice minister, Kenny MacAskill, is in trouble in his home country for skipping a major national crime conference to eat haggis and celebrate Scottish poet Robbie Burns's birthday in Toronto, Canwest News Service reported. The conference was intended to address knife crime, which has reached endemic proportions. The Toronto event on Jan. 25 was organized to mark the 250th anniversary of Mr. Burns's death.
