Environment Canada figures submitted to the UN last week say Canada's greenhouse gas emissions have increased more than any other G8 country since 1990, Canwest News Service reported. The figures, which go to 2007, say that after a slight dip between 2004 and 2006, emissions increased again in 2007 to 33.8 per cent above the country's Kyoto commitments. Total greenhouse gas emissions were 747 megatonnes that year, an increase of four per cent over the 2006. Meanwhile, Germany cut its emissions by 18 per cent between 1990 and 2006, while the UK reduced emissions by 15 per cent.
