Afghan Police Commish

The government has appointed a senior RCMP officer to become Canada's first police commissioner in Afghanistan. Assistant Commissioner Graham Muir will be based out of the Canadian embassy in Kabul and will oversee the 30 or so Canadian civilian police officers currently working in Afghanistan to help train local police. As well, Mr. Muir will provide advice to Canada's ambassador to Afghanistan, Ron Hoffman. Assistant Commissioner Muir has previously served with the UN in the Former Yugoslavia and Haiti.
