Natynczyk on Pakistan

As fighting in Pakistan mounts a military offensive against the Taliban, Canada's Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Walter Natynczyck called the confrontation "worrisome" on CTV's Question Period on Sunday. Gen. Natynczyck conceded that a victory by Pakistani troops on the Pakistan-Afghan border would ease the pressure on Canadian troops in Kandahar, the heart of Taliban territory. The effort to root out the insurgents has caused a humanitarian crisis as hundreds of thousands of civilians flee the Swat valley where the fighting will be the most intense.
