Canadian Tigers Detained

At least one, and perhaps as many as four, Canadian citizens are being held by the government of Sri Lanka for allegedly being Tamil Tiger combatants, the National Post reported. In recent months, the Sri Lankan army's offensive against the Tamil separatist movement has killed the Tiger leadership and caused a humanitarian crisis. Deepak Obhrai, Canada's Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Secretary said he has spoken with one detained man and said "he is now in touch with our consular officials, and we will be working towards his release back home."
