Russia Lifts Meat Ban

Russia's decision last week to lift import bans on meat products from Ontario and Quebec was welcomed by International Trade Minister Stockwell Day and Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz. Russia imposed H1N1-related restrictions on pork from Quebec produced before June 2 and after June 30, as well as on Ontario beef and poultry. In a letter to Mr. Day, the Russian Embassy cited close Canadian-Russian interactions as the reason for the decision.
