Ignoring Emissions Promise

Environment Minister Jim Prentice said the government will not change its plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60-70 per cent by 2050, despite the G8 agreeing to an overall cut of 80 per cent, Canwest News reported.

Environment Minister Jim Prentice said the government will not change its plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60-70 per cent by 2050, despite the G8 agreeing to an overall cut of 80 per cent, Canwest News reported. "This is a realistic target [given] the climate we have, the industrial base we have, our population growth," Mr. Prentice told reporters in Italy, referring to the current Canadian target.
