Minister of genocide prevention

Published: Wednesday, 09/23/2009 12:00 am EDT

A group of eminent Canadians that includes Senator Roméo Dallaire and former Canadian ambassador to the UN Robert Fowler called yesterday for the appointment of a standing parliamentary committee on genocide prevention, and for the prime minister to appoint a special "super-minister" for genocide prevention. The Liberals and NDP have both endorsed the report, which was produced with input from Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff.
