Canadian mayors have suspended a controversial plan to impose a provision to ban American companies from local procurement projects after negotiators met in Washington to discuss a Canadian exemption to Buy American, American Metal Market reported. "The United States and Canada held a first substantive meeting regarding Canada's proposal on government procurement," USTR deputy assistant Debbie Mesloh told the publication. "Canada explained its proposal and answered questions from the United States on its proposal. The meeting was a good start to this process."
