Peace NGO wins $765,000

Peace Dividend Trust has won the $765,000 (US) Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, chosen by the US-based Skoll Foundation. The Ottawa-based NGO works to make peace and humanitarian aid operations more effective and fair, and was founded in 2004 by a group of former UN staff, aid workers and diplomats. It's currently working in Afghanistan, Haiti and East Timor. PDT plans to use the money to hire more staff.
