Afghanistan on G8 agenda

Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon outlined the main topics of next month's G8 foreign ministers' meeting in Gatineau, Que., in an interview with the Globe and Mail. The volatile Afghan-Pakistan border issue, Iran's nuclear ambitions and the vulnerable security situation in states such as Yemen are at the top of the list. Mr. Cannon said Canada has gained significant credibility in discussing the Afghanistan issue, in spite of the government's proposed military withdrawal plans from 2011.
