Passenger on no-fly list detained

A direct flight from Mexico to Paris was rerouted to Montreal on Sunday and a passenger was arrested at the request of US authorities, Agence France-Presse reported. A spokeswoman from the Canadian Border Services Agency said the passenger appeared on the US no-fly list and was being detained for 48 hours under Canadian immigration law. The Immigration and Refugee Board later identified the passenger as Abdirahman Ali Gaal. The man was to appear today before an immigration panel to determine whether he will be released or deported.
