GG to become UN envoy

Gov. Gen. Michaëlle Jean has found a new job. After her term expires on Sept. 27, she will transition to a new position as a special envoy to Haiti for UNESCO, the CBC reported. Ms. Jean, who was born in Haiti, worked as a journalist before succeeding Adrienne Clarkson as the monarchy's representative in Ottawa in 2005. She has travelled to Haiti several times as governor general, most recently following the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake.
