The Queen has agreed to appoint former Waterloo University president David Johnston as Canada's next governor general, the Department of Canadian Heritage reported. Mr. Johnston travelled to Balmoral Castle in Scotland over the weekend, where he had his first official visit with Queen Elizabeth. He will be sworn into office on Oct. 1 at a ceremony on Parliament Hill. That is when he will also become commander-in-chief of Canada.
