Czech want date for visa lifting

The Chairman of the Czech Senate Premysl Sobotka told his Canadian counterpart Noel Kinsella that Canada should set a date for the lifting of the visa requirements it imposed on the Central European country in 2009, the Prague Daily Monitor reported. Canada introduced the visa requirements in an effort to restrict the number of refugee claimants from the country, mostly from Czech-Roma citizens. Mr. Kinsella said he supports the change, but could not provide a date, the newspaper reported. In November, a group of Canadian experts is scheduled to visit the Czech Republic to assess the country's protection of national minorities.
