Evacuation from Syria pondered

The government has left the door open to evacuating Canadians from Syria after reports more than 100 people were killed when Syrian security fired on protestors over the weekend. The government says Canadians should get out of the country now while airports and borders are still open, and has urged citizens to avoid travel to the country. The government also issued a statement stating it was deeply concerned about the violence. There are roughly 870 Canadians registered with the Embassy in Damascus, and an estimated 5,000 in Syria.
