Pull Canadian envoy: Opposition

Canada should pull its ambassador to Syria to send a strong message to President Bashar al-Assad's government, NDP Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar said this week. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain recalled their envoys earlier this week.

Canada should pull its ambassador to Syria to send a strong message to President Bashar al-Assad's government, NDP Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar said this week. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain recalled their envoys earlier this week. Postmedia News reported a Foreign Affairs ministerial spokesperson said thousands of Canadians are living in Syria now so pulling Canada's representative there would leave them "in the hands of the Assad regime."
