Oil sands escape emission rules in 2011

There won't be new rules this year for greenhouse gas emissions from the oil sands, the National Post reported. Environment Minister Peter Kent said consultations are being held between the government and the oil sector and that regulations would not be brought out immediately. The plan for the oil sands is to have guidelines, allowing the various sectors to meet emission targets through technological improvements, the minister said.
