More Syria sanctions

Canada is placing further sanctions against the Syrian regime, including the freezing of assets of 12 more entities and 27 people in the nation, according to CBC News. Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird made the statement on Tuesday. The sanctions included a prohibition on importing, purchasing, acquiring, carrying or shipping of petroleum products from Syria and on providing financing for new investment in the oil industry. Travel restrictions were also put in place along with a prohibition on dealings with members of the regime and those who give it support.
