Trade deal with China soon

Trade Minister Ed Fast said he is confident a foreign investment and protection agreement between Canada and China will be completed soon, according to Postmedia News. The minister said on Oct. 3 that he is preparing for a trade mission to China next week, something that could lay the foundation for a possible trip by Prime Minister Stephen Harper later this year. Mr. Fast said that even though protectionism seems to be on the rise, he anticipates this deal will soon be finalized along with negotiations with the European Union in 2012.
