UofO gets new chancellor

The University of Ottawa has chosen former governor general Michaëlle Jean as its new chancellor, the Ottawa Citizen repored. Ms. Jean, presently UNESCO's special envoy for Haiti, will replace Huguette Labelle. University president Allan Rock gave a statement saying that the institution's staff and students are happy and proud to welcome her in this new capacity. While governor general, Ms. Jean received the formal letter of credence presented by new ambassadors and high commissioners to Canada.
