No tanks for Canada

Canada expressed interest in buying 40 second-hand Leopard 2A4 tanks from Austria, but the Austrians are now in negotiations to sell back the tanks to their German manufacturer, Agence France-Presse reported. An army insider said since Canada is still involved in operations in Afghanistan, such a sale would involve considerable red tape. The manufacturer Krauss-Maffei will buy back the tanks for $545,280 each and then modernize them.
