Canada could close US offices

The Harper government could close up to eight of its trade offices and consulates in the United States this year, CBC News reported. The federal cabinet is set to make a final decision on the matter by the budget, expected in March. Aside from the main embassy in Washington, Canada has 21 trade offices and consulates located in its neighbouring country. The likely candidates for closure include satellite consulates in Philadelphia, Anchorage, Houston, Raleigh, Phoenix and San Diego.
