First Myanmar embassy to open

Foreign Minister John Baird announced while in Thailand that Canada would be opening up an embassy in Myanmar, also known as Burma, Postmedia News reported. Although Mr. Baird sourced democratic progress and improvements in human rights as sparking the decision, the announcement came while many countries—including the US—announced intentions to invest in Myanmar's natural resources such as oil, natural gas, minerals, and precious gems.
