DND privatizing?

Union leaders are accusing the Department of National Defence of cutting public servants in the name of saving money as an excuse to privatize maintenance and janitorial positions within army installations, The Ottawa Citizen reported. According to DND documents the department is considering paying a $100-million, five-year contract to a private business, just months after cutting jobs in the same sector. The Union of National Defence Employees says 188 to 191 jobs will be lost.
